Employment Practices disputes and errors can be costly

As an employer, you and your staff are susceptible to claims of sexual harassment, wrongful termination and discrimination made by employees and applicants of employment.  When these claims happened, they will ruin a business not only financially but also damage its reputation.

What type of coverage can you get?

Damages, compensation and defence costs following a claim on:

  Unfair or wrongful dismissal
  Breach of employment contract
  Sexual harassment
Discrimination - sex, race and disability

Backpay arising from an order of reinstatement

Employment Practices Liability Insurance is not a luxury

You as an employer are not allowed to discriminate on grounds of race, colour, sex, sexual preference, age, disability, medical record, impairment, marital status, pregnancy, potential pregnancy, family responsibilities, criminal record, trade union activity, political opinion, religion, national extraction or social origin.
You might not do the wrong thing.  But if any of your staff do it, it will be your business that is liable.
Even if no one has done anything wrong, the cost of defending the claims starts from the day a claim is made against your business.

Common exclusions and limitations

Strikes, walk-outs and other industrial relations issues
  Unfair employment contracts
Trustee, manager of any superannuation or benefit plan

Is getting an Employment Practices Insurance the only action required?
